KPJ’s grow-focused efforts bring more positive results — President

JOHOR BAHARU: KPJ Healthcare Bhd ( KPJ) is very encouraged by the growth-focused efforts that have brought more positive returns this year.

Its president/managing director, Amiruddin Abdul Satar, said the group’s Malaysia segment’s revenue for the first quarter ended March 31, 2014 (1Q14) rose by nine per cent to RM544.6 million compared with RM400.5 million in the same period of 2013.

newly- opened existing hospitals.

“KPJ is encouraged by the 1Q14 results, which demonstrat­ed the strength of our business and underscore­d the opportunit­ies KPJ can have in today’s rapidly expanding healthcare industry,” he said to reporters after the company’s annual general Meeting here yesterday.

He said its Indonesian segment revenue for the fi rst quarter rose by 56 per cent to RM10.8 million compared with the same period in 2013 of RM6.9 million.

Earlier, KPJ chairman, Datuk Kamaruzzam­an Abu Kassim, said last year saw KPJ continuous­ly making significan­t inroads into new markets while simultaneo­usly enhancing its presence in the current ones.

It completed acquisitio­n of 100 per cent of equity in the Sri Manjung Specialist Centre in Perak and opened a new KPJ Pasir Gudang Specialist Hospital in Johor, he said. — Bernama
