‘No more excuses’, MSNS director warns

Sarawak State Sports Council ( MSNS) acting director Lucas Kalang Laeng wants sports associatio­n to gear up for next year’s Sukma.

He expects the associatio­ns to start their de-centralise­d training by the end of September and centralise­d training by December this year.

“I believe that the people of Sarawak should not be hearing excuses such as not given enough time to prepare anymore as it is getting old. So here is a reminder to all of the sports associatio­n involved,” he said when interviewe­d by reporters in his office yesterday.

These associatio­ns , he continued, are also expected to finalise their shadow team by the end of September.

A good time for exposure trips, he suggested, is from this September to next April.

“Whatever it is, the list of the confirmed team should be submitted by February next year and I hope the sports associatio­ns wil l fol low guidelines set by MSNS,” he added.

Sarawak looks set to take part in 10 out of 20 sports to be contested at next year’s Sukma in Kuala Lumpur.

cricket, fencing, futsal, handball, judo, kabaddi, kayaking and muaythai next year.

“Before we finalise anything, there is a need for everyone involved in the 2015 Sukma to have a meeting first. MSNS will finalise the confirmed list ( of sports) soon,” Lucas said.

The 2015 edition of Sukma is widely expected to be held at the end of May, just before the Hari Raya celebratio­n next year.
