Photo competition on Pineapple Fest extended
The closing date for a photography competition organised in conjunction with this year’s Pineapple Fest had been extended from Sept 15 to Sept 29.
This was announced by chairman of Sarikei District Council, Chan PhanChanduringapressconference last Tuesday afternoon.
Entry forms for the contest are available to interested parties from Aug 1, but following the extension of the closing date, they can still be obtained from Christi Lim or Niswah Hasinah Ibrahim of Administrative Section, Sarikei District Council, Jalan Nyelong, 96100 Sarikei (tel 084- 651201 or 651202 or fax 084- 658623/653702).
The competition open to all Malaysians offers RM1,500, a trophy and certificate for the first prize; RM1,000, a trophy and certificate (first runner-up); and RM800, a trophy and certificate (second runner-up). There are 10 consolations prizes of RM200 each.
According to a statement issued by the organising committee, the theme of the contest is agriculture such as plantations, farming and livestock farming that show Sarikei as the ‘Food Basket of Sarawak’.
All entries must be captured in Sarikei Division which comprises Sarikei, Meradong, Julau and Pakan districts, the statement said.
Entries from any other locations would be disqualified.
