Melaka UiTM student stabbed six times during robbery

A university student was stabbed six times by an armed intruder when she put up a struggle during a robbery at the victim’s Dimensi Apartment unit in Lendu here early yesterday.

Siti Irina Ridzwan, 20, screamed for help as she grappled with the man who was armed with a knife at a unit in the first f loor of the apartment.

In the 5.30am incident, the robber jumped from the balcony to make good his escape with the ignition keys of two cars and three purses belonging to the victim and three of four housemates.

The mass communciat­ion student of the Universiti Teknologi Mara ( UiTM) Alor Gajah campus sustained six stab wounds in the chest and hands.

Siti Irina was warded at the Melaka Hospital where her condition was described as stable.

Alor Gajah police acting chief DSP Abd Rahman Jid said about an hour later, the police detained two accomplice­s of the suspected robber to facilitate investigat­ions.

He said the ignition keys of a Hyundai and Proton cars were seized, apart from a machete and ‘kerambit’ (a type of curved dagger).

“We tracked down the suspects to a unit in the same block of the apartment,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Meanwhile, a friend of the victim, Iman Nur Khalisha Mohd Jafni, 20, said she was awakened when she heard Siti Irina’s screams for help and dashed to her friend’s unit. — Bernama
