Kanowit set to roar on Sept 21

-

The third series of Borneo Motocross Chal lenge on Sept 21 ( Sunday) promises to turn Kanowit into a magnet for automotive racing sport enthusiasts.

At least this is the hope of the Sarawak Motocross Club (SMC).

“It’s a rare opportunity and as an enthusiast myself, I am looking forward to get this event running and come to life. So we are calling all fans to make the trip to Kanowit next week and support our local racing event,” SMC president Willian Sinos said to The Borneo Post yesterday.

The first and second of the four series of the challenge were held in Samarahan and Miri respectively.

The series is the collective effort of the SMC and the Sarawak Automot ive Racing Spor ts Association ( SARSA), with the support of the Ministry of Social Development.

The Kanowit District Office is also involved in organising the Sept 21 event.

Racers will be competing in the Motocross Open, Motocross 125, Motocross Veteran, Sarawak Motocross Masters, Cub Cross, CKD International and Mini Cross.

Local racers will be joined by participants Brunei and Indonesia (mostly from Kalimantan).

“Lots of mean machines will be tested on the dirt tracks of Kanowit on that day and it is not often that we get to see them in action.

“The event will also feature the best riders from Borneo Island itself and locals should not miss them in action,” added William.

Sungai Rinang Temporary Motorcross Track in Kanowit is the venue for Sept 21.
