Ford Malaysia sales jumps 53 per cent in August

-

Ford Motor Company’s overall retail sales in August jumped 53 per cent to 1,124 units, driven by continued strength in demand for the Ranger and Fiesta models.

In a statement, the company said the Ranger remained the second best-selling pickup truck in the market and Ford’s best-selling nameplate in Malaysia with retail sales in August surging 63 per cent, year-on-year, to 722 units.

Year-to-date Ranger sales rose 54 per cent to 5,257 units as strong demand continued across the entire model line.

“The rugged appeal and overall capability of the Ranger continues to attract a wide-range of customers because of the way it suits their respective work and lifestyles in Malaysia,” said managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, David Westerman.

Fiesta delivered retail sales of 256 units, helping boost its yearto-date sales up more than 26 per cent to 2,381 units.

The statement also said strong demand for Fiesta was being driven by its high-performance 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine, which recently won International Engine of the Year, as well as, for its global 1.5 litre TiVCT engine variant.

With the Kuga SUV and technology-packed Focus also contributing more than 1,300 sales, Ford’s overall year-to-date retail sales rose 32 per cent to 9,034 units – its best, year-to-date, performance in more than two decades.

Westerman expected the all-new EcoSport compact urban SUV to provide a significant boost to its sales performance in September – its first full month of availability in the market. — Bernama
