Labuan PAS suspends all forms of cooperation with Labuan DAP

-

LABUAN: Labuan PAS has suspended all forms of cooperation with Labuan DAP with immediate effect, following the party’s public statement, which it described as baseless and in bad faith.

Its chief Amir Zahari said the statement with the headline ‘ Seven Facts Why Pakatan Has No Future With Hadi’, in a news portal on March 22 and ‘PAS betrayed PKR in the last general election’ was taken seriously by Labuan PAS.

DAP assistant national publicity secretary Zairil Khir Johari had alleged that PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s last minute move of placing candidates in the last general election caused Barisan Nasional (BN) to win six state seats –Sungai Acheh (Penang), Kota Damansara (Selangor), Panti (Johor), Kota Putera, Bukit Besi and Seberang Takir (Terengganu).

Abdul Hadi was also blamed for the Opposition’s loss of the Labuan parliamentary seat, he said in a statement to Bernama yesterday.

Zairil said PAS’ move to contest all the seven seats supposed to be contested by PKR was a clear betrayal done with Abdul Hadi’s blessing.

Amir said Zairil had also alleged Hadi decided that PAS contest the seven seats authority letters (watikah) which he signed.

“It was a baseless allegation as based on PAS’ system all candidates representing the party will receive letters of authority signed by the party’s general- secretary Datuk Mustafa Ali and not by the president.”

Amir stressed that Labuan seat had been a traditional parliamentary seat allocated to PAS since 1999 and it had been agreed upon by Pakatan Rakyat. — Bernama
