‘Kit Siang’s suggestion a political gimmick’
KUCHING: The suggestion by DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang for the formation of a new coalition to be called ‘ Save Malaysia’ is nothing more than a political gimmick, said Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
He said the Barisan Nasional ( BN) leaders always maintained the agenda to unite and strengthen solidarity among the people for the sake of stability and developing the nation.
On the other hand, he said, the suggestion by the DAP veteran leader was nothing more than political talk purportedly solidarity but in terms of practice, nothing was done to unite the people.
“This is their brand of politics, they merely talk. When they come to Sarawak, they will say the BN is bad, but when they face any problem, they will want to work with us,” he said at a media conference after handing over a hearse as a corporate social responsibility ( CSR) contribution from Risda to the Health Department at the grounds of the Sarawak Health Department in Jalan Diplomatik, here yesterday.
Several media reports previously stated that Lim, in his speech at a DAP Bukit Bintang anniversary celebration last Sunday, suggested the formation of a new coalition to be called “Save Malaysia” comprising Members of Parliament with differing political backgrounds in a struggle to uphold the National Constitution and the rule of law. — Bernama
