MIRI: Donations for the fi rstever ‘Care Run, Together’ are still pouring in, despite the successful event having concluded on Saturday.

Organising chairman Rupert Hii said his committee was beyond happy to have exceeded the target for the inaugural charity run.

“At first, we only expected RM40,000 in proceeds but it turned out that we collected over RM50,000.

“Moreover, donations are still coming in,” he told The Borneo Post on Monday.

Hii, on behalf of the organiser, expressed his gratitude to many members of the general public for their contribution in making the programe a huge success.

The ‘Care Run, Together’ was managed by Green Summit Development Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with Lions Club of Miri Mandarin and Lions Club of Miri Seahorse. It was divided into three age group categories – namely the 21 and below, 22- 50, and 51 and above – open for men and women.

Over 300 people took part in the charity event, from which proceeds were slated for the Association of Parents of Special Children ( Pibakis) to build its new centre.

Additionally, Hii did not dismiss the potential for the next edition of the programme next year.

“In fact, it is in our plan to make the run an annual affair. We are keeping our options open regarding such decision,” he added.
