PUTRAJAYA: More than 2,000 users have registered for the Sim Kad Rakyat 1Malaysia ( SR1M) since its launch on March 16, with more enquiring about sales location and how to become a distributor.

Optic Tech Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Bakthiar Shaari said the company was optimistic of achieving one million users by year- end based on the reponse received especially from the younger generation.

SR1M is offering telecommunications services, short message service (SMS) and Internet access starting as low as RM5.90 for a prepaid starter pack.

“There are about 400 SR1M distributors nationwide and the distributors list can be viewed online at www.sr1m.com.my.

“If any of the SR1M distributors are found selling more than the fixed price of RM5.90, their services would be terminated. This is to ensure that certain parties do not take advantage,” he said, adding that the company was aware that there were individuals who are selling the starter packs between RM13 and RM35, online.

Bakhtiar said SR1M would also be sold at all Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia and that foreigners can use SR1M, provided they have valid passport and visa.

“SR1M is the result of Optic Tech Sdn Bhd Optic’s initiatives and cooperation with Clixster Mobile Sdn Bhd and Enabling Asia,” he added. — Bernama
