Teras to set up branches at all polling stations in Meluan constituency

-

KUCHING: Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak ( Teras) Meluan Division wants to set up branches at all polling stations in the constituency to strengthen the grassroots.

The divisional office- bearers endorsed six Teras branches namely Julau-Rayah, Merurun, Kubu Brooke, Lasi, EntaihEngkamop, Sengaih and BayuKemalih during their annual general meeting ( AGM) last Friday. Another six branches namely Entabai, Miujok, Ensiring, Jampbu, Luau and Bua would be set up by June this year, said their chairman Jerry Clement.

“Through this approach Teras Meluan will have a very comprehensive structure to enable it to reach out to all strata of community, including the younger generation. It is organised in such a way that it not only has divisional service office but branch (or unit) service committees, too. The branches will have their respective committee, youth and woman wings,” said Jerry in a press statement received here yesterday.

“By setting up more branches, we are building strong machinery for the coming election and make Teras a winning party,”

He claimed that any candidate who professed to be winnable for the Barisan Nasional ( BN) was only winnable on paper but not

in reality if he or she was without effective machinery.

“Glorifying the winnable candidate alone is not enough. We must also glorify the party. To make the party a winnable party there must be effective machinery,” he said.

Teras Meluan, he added, was working towards building better rapport among the people in the hope that the party and its leaders were recognised by top BN leaders as a winnable party, he said.

“Whatever programmes and activities the party is doing should not be seen by other BN component parties, especially SPDP as acts of rivalry. The main objective is to work together and complement other component parties to help win back the people’s confidence and wrest lost seats like Meluan for the BN. We look forward to working with SPDP in the context of a big BN family,” he said.
