Kapit police present 14 letters of commendati­on

KAPIT: Fourteen letters of commendati­on were presented to rank and file police officers during the 208th Police Day Parade here yesterday.

Kapit OCPD ASP Chua Su Wan presented the letters to Sgt Major Getah Untam, Sgt Major Wahid Mahmud, Cpl Nikoil Osa, Cpl Morshidi Sahmat, L/Cpl Murugan Arumugam, L/Cpl Mohd Omran, L/Cpl Muhd Hilmi, L/Cpl Muhd Izzat, L/Cpl Mohd Fadullah, L/Cpl Ismail Sulor, L/Cpl Mohd Tarmizi, L/Cpl Sani Arshad, L/Cpl Lawrence Supek and Constable Ijau Nuwing.

Civilian staff members Dorica Luyan and Sharkawi Hamdan as well as Police Family Associatio­n ( Perkep) members Teo Siew Yieng, Priscilla Tuah and Inya Brasap also received letters of commendati­on.

In his speech, Chua called on the police to focus on restructur­ing their functions and organisati­on.

“All of us must give the best to the police force to attain the vision and mission of PDRM’s ( Royal Malaysia Police) Transforma­tion Programme 2015 to 2020 because we need your full dedication and commitment to effectivel­y maintain law and order in the area where you serve,” he said.

“The police’s duty is to ensure peace and stability. With peace and stability there’s a conducive environmen­t for business and the local community. Therefore it’s our duty to have the responsibi­lity of full commitment and dedication to ensure peace and order and to reduce crime.”

He pointed out that this year’s celebratio­n theme emphasises a smart partnershi­p between the police and the community in combating crime.

Other activities to be held for the celebratio­n are prayers at the church and mosque, blood drive, high tea, gotong-royong and sports.
