Malaysian brands recognised in World Branding Awards

KUALA LUMPUR: The World Branding Awards (WBA) in Paris today acknowledg­ed Malaysian brands such as Pos Malaysia, Spritzer and Wardrobe, as among the recognised global brands.

The Malaysian brands along with Singapore’s SMRT, Raffles Education and BreadTalk were among the 50 brands from 22 countries honoured at a glittering award ceremony at the iconic Hilton Paris Opera Hotel.

WBA in a statement issued yesterday in Paris, France said the other Global winners include Cartier, Club Med, Evian, Gillette, Gucci, Hermès, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, IKEA, L’Oréal, Moët & Chandon, Nike, Prada and UPS.

Other national tier winners include Penfolds Wines, China Telecom, Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, Indosat, NTT Docomo, SK Telecom, Chunghwa Telecom, and Eurostar Trains.

Each brand was named “Brand of the Year” in their respective categories.

The Award is organized by the World Branding Forum (WBF), a global non-profit organizati­on dedicated to advancing branding standards for the good of the branding community as well as consumers.

WBF organizes and sponsors a range of educationa­l programs, including collaborat­ions with leading universiti­es and museums.

“Over 2,500 brands from 35 countries were nominated for the Awards. As part of the judging process, a brand valuation is conducted, and takes into account financial performanc­e, advertisin­g, public relations, marketing, and social media engagement activities,” explained Peter Pek, Chief Executive of the WBF in the same statement. — Bernama
