KDCA to hold affordable health programme in June
KUCHING: Kuching Dynamic Community Association (KDCA) is coming up with a special wellness campaign programme to make health care more affordable to the public.
This first of its kind programme, Sarawak Wellness Campaign 2015, will be held here from June 26 to 28.
Announcing this at a media conference here yesterday, KDCA chairman Paul Fong Foot Khiong said their main objective is to create an awareness that health is of utmost important and that people should really take good care of their health so that they would remain dynamic and be more productive in their work.
“We also want to see that health care would become more affordable to the people,” he said, adding that the event will be divided into three major segments: expo, performance by a Zumba group at the opening ceremony, and a free health screening mainly for cholesterol test.
Fong said the event will be held at Cityone Exhibition Centre here with a slogan that goes, “Now Everyone Can Do Health Care and Healthcare Is More Affordable Now. Are You Ready?”
According to Fong, a total of 80 booths will be put up and they hope to see at least 10,000 visitors to the exhibition.
Charges for the booths are RM1,800, RM2,000 and RM2,200 each and intending participants can start booking from today. Potential participants would be those in the health and fitness businesses like body weight management, body detoxification, spa and massages, dieting, fitness centre and gym, yoga, meditation, Zumba, body building, healthcare, alternative medication, traditional herbs, hair care, physical exercise and equipment, nutritional products, and health monitoring gadgets.
Fong said the opening ceremony on June 27 at Cityone Exhibition Centre is expected to be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem,
Fong pointed out that this programme is basically charitable in nature as there will be free health screening and cholesterol test, while doctors will be around to provide free advice and assistance if necessary.
“Health care can be found everywhere. Problem is it is not affordable to many people,” said Fong.
“So this campaign aims to make caring for health more attainable by more people as there will be significant discounts on various types of health care products and services, even gifts,”
