KUCHING: An email scam called ‘ 2015 Mac Program Promosi AirAsia’ from ‘AirAsia Singapura’ has been circulating online promising lucrative cash prizes.

The scam email states that the recipient has been selected as the lucky winner of RM130,000 from AirAsia Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and for the recipient to contact ‘AirAsia Singapura’ immediately with personal details.

“We would like to confirm that this is a scam which uses the AirAsia brand without authorisation, to lure the public to participate in its scheme. We advise the public to disregard such invitations and AirAsia shall not be held liable for any claims pertaining to the false scheme,” warned a press statement issued by AirAsia yesterday.

The statement said the AirAsia brand has been repeatedly violated by unscrupulous parties with deceitful motives and the intention to cheat the general public.

“We never enlist third party services in organising our activities and official announcements are made via official channels such as credible mass media and our official social media channels at all times.

“We will not hesitate to take legal action against individuals or groups who organise illegal schemes using the AirAsia brand, and a police report has been lodged with regards to this scam,” added the statement.

The statement called on the public to report suspected scams using the AirAsia brand via facebook.com/airasia, twitter. com/airasia or airasia.com/ask.
