Exim Bank chairman to receive Cambodia’s highest medal
KUALA LUMPUR: ExportImport Bank of Malaysia Bhd ( EXIM) chairman Datuk Mohd Hashim Hassan will receive Cambodia’s
Munisaraphoin Medal of honour today ( March 27).
The presentation will be made by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen during the opening ceremony of the Alserkal Grand Mosque in Phnom Penh.
The Munisaraphoin Medal is Cambodia’s highest medal of honour and is being presented in consideration of EXIM Bank’s role in promoting the business relationship between Malaysia and Cambodia.
“Receiving the medal is a tremendous honour for me.
“It is EXIM Bank’s mission to improve cross- border investments between Malaysia and Cambodia that resulted in this prestigious honour”, said Hashim in a statement yesterday.
Trade between the two countries was valued at US$ 420 million in 2013 and Malaysia exported beverages, transportation equipment, processed food, chemical products and machinery.
Malaysia is the third largest investor in Cambodia with total investment of about US$ 2.62 billion in the banking, tourism, information technology and finance sectors.
To- date, cross- border investments created by EXIM Bank have reached almost US$100 million, covering those by the government and private sector. – Bernama
