Exim Bank chairman to receive Cambodia’s highest medal

KUALA LUMPUR: ExportImpo­rt Bank of Malaysia Bhd ( EXIM) chairman Datuk Mohd Hashim Hassan will receive Cambodia’s

Munisaraph­oin Medal of honour today ( March 27).

The presentati­on will be made by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen during the opening ceremony of the Alserkal Grand Mosque in Phnom Penh.

The Munisaraph­oin Medal is Cambodia’s highest medal of honour and is being presented in considerat­ion of EXIM Bank’s role in promoting the business relationsh­ip between Malaysia and Cambodia.

“Receiving the medal is a tremendous honour for me.

“It is EXIM Bank’s mission to improve cross- border investment­s between Malaysia and Cambodia that resulted in this prestigiou­s honour”, said Hashim in a statement yesterday.

Trade between the two countries was valued at US$ 420 million in 2013 and Malaysia exported beverages, transporta­tion equipment, processed food, chemical products and machinery.

Malaysia is the third largest investor in Cambodia with total investment of about US$ 2.62 billion in the banking, tourism, informatio­n technology and finance sectors.

To- date, cross- border investment­s created by EXIM Bank have reached almost US$100 million, covering those by the government and private sector. – Bernama
