BETONG: The public must continue to work with and support the police in order to live in peace and harmony.

Inspector- General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the public and the police can combat crime together and bring order to the country.

His text of speech was read by Betong District police chief DSP Aidil Bolhassan in conjunction with the 208th Police Day celebration held at Betong District Police Station here on Wednesday.

Khalid said police are willing to serve the public any time and anywhere.

To ensure safety and peace in the country they will continue to take holistic means to eradicate and prevent crime.

The transformation process will fi nd the police doing police work in a people- oriented manner in line with this year’s theme ‘Polis Dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada’ or police and the public are inseparable.

“The police need to be honest in executing their duties if they are to get the respect of the public. They must have excellent work ethics, be dedicated and responsible,” he said.
