PBB leaders visit grassroots supporters
KAPIT: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Pelagus leaders are currently visiting grassroots supporters in the constituency to update them on current political, social and economic issues.
PBB Pelagus deputy chairman Jefferson Jamit Unyat said the visits are also to get feedback from the ground.
“This is our ongoing programme of going to the ground as our preparation for the coming state election due by June 2016,” he said recently during an event at Rumah Baja Rawing jointly organised with the Special Affairs Department (Jasa).

our presence is felt.”
He stressed that PBB exists to serve the people.
“We’re planning a series of visits to our supporters in urban and rural areas. PBB is here to ensure the BN (Barisan Nasional) candidate wins the state seats,” he said.
“Earlier similar visits were held at Kampung Baru and Kampung Muhibbah Bletih to meet the Malay and Muslim community. Next we will move now to rural longhouses as preparations to face the election.”
He called on the people to continue supporting Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan to ensure Sarawak’s peace, stability and development are uninterrupted.
“His people-orientated policies indeed benefit all of us -- Malay, Dayak, Chinese, Orang Ulu and all Sarawakians. His focus on rural development certainly benefits us in Kapit because we’re one of the rural constituencies that needs to intensify development to catch up with the urban centres like Kuching, Sibu or Miri where facilities are available,” added Jefferson.
Meanwhile, Tuai Rumah Baja Rawing said the visit was a good opportunity to highlight needs on the ground.
“We’re thankful to the government for building the Kapit-Sungai Yong road which links my longhouse. Last time, we travelled by boat to town. Now many of us prefer going by road because we’ve bought cars and motorcycles, which is more convenient.
“Now we have the road for ease of transportation to our longhouse, we want more because we’re thirsty for infrastructure. We’re requesting for SEB (Sarawak Energy Berhad) for electricity supply and an iron bridge to replace the temporary wooden bridge. Currently we have individual electric generators, which is inconvenient,” he said.
The 13-door Rumah Baja Rawing has some 100 residents.
