Countdown to Padawan Internatio­nal Off-Roaders Extreme Challenge begins

KUCHING: The countdown has begun to the Padawan Internatio­nal 4 x 4 Off- Roaders Extreme Challenge 2015 to be held on May 22 to 24 at Bengoh Resettleme­nt Scheme.

A press statement issued by organising chairman who is also Padawan Municipal Council ( MPP) Councillor Wilfred Yap yesterday said:”We are now in the final preparatio­ns to make this first- ever internatio­nal off-road challenge in Sarawak the bestever internatio­nal off-road motor vehicle event of its kind and an event that will put Sarawak on the motor tourism map.”

The guest of honour of the event will be the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

Yap, MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang, SARSA Motorsport technical director Lucas Tan together with members of organising committee comprising councillor­s and other key officials recently gave a briefing on the latest progress of the event to Assistant Minister of the Public Health who is also Bengoh assemblyma­n Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.

The briefing was to inform Dr Jerip where the various facilities and amenities will be set up as well as the security aspect for the competitio­n.

Admission to the event is free and visitors may win some prizes as they participat­e in different side activities during the race event.

Aside from the race, there will also be many other exciting activities in conjunctio­n with the event like the world famous ring ladies performanc­e, local concert, motorcycle and car exhibition, formula car display and a Kumang Gawai competitio­n.

There will be a competitio­n for the media covering the event for three categories of ‘ Best Photograph­y’, ‘ Best Write Up’ and ‘Best Coverage’.
