ExxonMobil starts production from Telok B platform
KUALA LUMPUR: ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc, a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation, yesterday announced the startup of natural gas production from the Telok B platform. Telok B, located off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, is the second phase of the Telok gas development project.
“The completion of Telok B platform highlights the capability of Malaysian contractors to design, fabricate and install oil and gas production facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
“The Telok field development is another successful partnership between ExxonMobil and PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd that is helping to ensure reliable gas supply to the nation,” said Chairman, ExxonMobil President and ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia See Kok Yew in a statement.
ExxonMobil and PETRONAS Carigali each hold a 50 per cent interest in this project.
The Telok development consists of two satellite platforms -- Telok A and Telok B, with a combined capacity of more than 450 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
More than 4.8 million total work hours are required to complete the Telok development.
Telok is one of several upstream investments announced under Malaysia’s Economic Transformation Programme in 2011, which saw ExxonMobil and PETRONAS Carigali investing more than RM10 billion in new oil and gas assets to help ensure reliable and sustainable energy supplies for Malaysia. — Bernama
