KUCHING: The RM28 million Darul Hana Mosque located along the Tun Sallehuddin toll bridge road is expected to be completed by February next year.

According to Housing Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, the mosque, which is part of the first phase of the mega Darul Hana township project, is 85 per cent completed.

“The mosque will be the first ever building in this first ever large scale resettlement which will transform the Seberang Hilir area,” said Abang Johari.

He was speaking to reporters after visiting the mosque construction project yesterday.

“Upon completion of the mosque, the contractors will kick start the Darul Hana housing project which is under the 11th Malaysia Plan.

“The project will see the construction of over 500 low cost houses of various designs and will be completed in two years’ time,” he said, adding both projects would cost RM230 million.

“The first phase will involve the relocation of three villages - Kampung Semarang, Kampung Panglima Seman Lama and Kampung Pulo Ulo,” he added.

He pointed out that the relocation would transform the 4.1km stretch from Kampung Boyan to Kampung Bintawa Hilir.

“The overall Darul Hana project will take up to eight years to be completed and among agencies involved will be the Housing Development Corporation and the Land Custody Development Authority ( LCDA),” he disclosed.

Assistant Housing Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and LCDA general manager Datu Dr Sulaiman Husaini were at the event.
