Mohd Asrullah snatches Utusan Borneo Futsal crown for Persela

KUCHING: Persela A snatched the 2015 Utusan Borneo Futsal crown by winning 3-2 in a penalty shootout against defending champions De Reaza FC in the final yesterday.

Scoreless after the ful l 15 minutes of play, the winning goal was scored by Mohd Asrullah Drahman to the delight of his jubilant teammates and coach Junaidi Suaidi at Coneli Futsal Stadium in Matang.

“I am very proud of my team who showed discipline to follow our strategy in the run- up and during the final,” said Junaidi after the prize presentati­on with Persela A as champions in the second competitio­n.

Junaidi said Persela was founded in 2012 and still regards itself as an underdog despite newfound bragging rights.

Persela A pocketed cash prize of RM1,500 while De Reaza FC won RM900, along with trophy, medals and certificat­e of participat­ion.

In joint third were Persela B and Beak United who shared the position after both teams were knocked out in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Persela’s other squad called ‘ Planet Futsal Academy Milo’ won the Under-12 category by thrashing Ogie Team 5- 0.

The goals were scored by Wan Danish Wan Lufti while Radziman Ridzuan and Ahmad Garcia Saiful Bohari netted two goals each.

The win saw Planet Futsal Academy Milo going home with RM600 while Ogie settled for RM450 with trophies and medals. Sharing third spot were Three-Jay Junior FC and Segong Junior.

The Golden Boot was awarded to Ismail Ahmad ( Persela A) who won RM100 while Best Goalkeeper and RM100 went to Yasser Arafat Solhi ( De Rieza). De Rieza were also crowned as the competitio­n’s best team and won themselves RM200.

In Under-12, the Golden Boot went to to Radziman and Best Goalkeeper was Fatihie Zambia ( both Planet Futsal Academy Milo). Both won RM50. Best Team (and RM100) went to Ogie.
