Salman’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo gets stupendous start

-

MUMBAI: Superstar Salman Khan is literally the man of the moment. His latest release ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ is raking in the money fast.

If day one collection was a whopping Rs 40 crore ( RM2.6 million) then reports suggests that the second day collection is better than Salman’s previous blockbuster hit such as ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Kick’.

According to noted film critic Taran Adarsh, the numbers are outstanding. The Rajshri production has certainly benefited from the Diwali release plus long weekend in the country. The movie is on the verge of entering the coveted Rs 100 crore club soon.

When asked about the fact that viewers had made it an agenda to watch the film with their entire family, Salman responded: “That should be the agenda for everyone. Nothing better than a family film.”

He added: “I’ll appreciate all the fans who went to the theatre already. So it’s really nice of them.

“And all of them have loved the movie, from the feedback that I’m receiving from everyone. So it’s a good feeling that after such a long time, a film like this has come and the numbers for the first day are really large.”

He also said he, Helen and others close to him saw the film here on Thursday while his mother and sisters Alvira and Arpita saw it in London.

‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ stars Salman in a double role with Sonam Kapoor as the lead opposite him. It also stars Anupam Kher, Swara Bhaskar, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Armaan Kohli among others.

Neil plays the villainous brother while Armaan handles the management affairs in the rajgharana. Another actress who needs a special mention here is Swara Bhaskar, who plays one of the step sisters to Salman and shows her angst rightly. The young and zestfull Aashika Bhatia played her football well with audience clapping on her each move.

The director has tried his best to keep the ethics of Indian culture right at the centre of his screenplay. The movie is a sureshot family entertainer, without any uncomfortable scenes. However, it does take a while to digest that such a perfect family and ethics can coexist in today’s time.

Directed by Sooraj Barjatya the film was released worlwide to a massive opening on Nov 12.

Meanwhile, Salman says that he has only 10 days to get back in shape for his role a a wrestler in Yash Raj Films’ ‘Sultan’.

“I start from today actually. I’ve got 10 days to get back into shape. These three weeks of mine I could not do anything because of promotions, so let’s see in 10 days how much difference can be seen,” Salman said during the promotions of his film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” at a jewellery store here.

“I’m already there but I need to fine-tune it a bit,” he added.

In the film, Salman plays the title character, a wrestler from Haryana.

In an interview with a local daily over a month back, Salman said: “Audiences will see me in double size. My training for ‘Sultan’ has started; so I need to get bigger and fitter for the role.”

Salman is also seen sporting a stubble and a crew cut currently as part of his look for the film.

The first look of the film, too, saw him with a handlebar moustache, which had generated enough curiosity among his loyal fans.

In fact, the teaser of the film announcing that it will release on Eid 2016 had sent both Salman’s and Shah Rukh Khan’s fans in a frenzy since now both SRK’s film ‘ Raees’ and ‘Sultan’ are going to clash.
