SK Abang Old Students’ Association on membership drive
SIBU: SK Abang Old Students’ Association which has about 460 registered members since inception in 2014 is currently embarking on a membership recruitment drive.
Association advisor Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is Nangka assemblyman, urged former students who have not joined the association to do so soonest.
He told a gathering of the association members Sunday night that former students were expected to reciprocate what their 125-year- old alma mater had done for them.
He said the association’s membership force could reach 5,000 if most of the former students responded to the call to become members.
Dr Annuar also emphasised the importance of education, saying the school gave free tuition to students.
“Last year, 300 students attended the tuition class, an increase of about 100 students when compared to the number in the previous year.”
Disclosing on a threemonth tuition class available at the University College of Technology Sarawak ( UCTS), he said: “All schools in Nangka constituency may go for this free tuition programme and parents should grab the opportunity.”
Meanwhile, association chairman Dato Mohammad Yusnar Matalie said the association had 460 members now, with 500 others having applied to join.
The association’s patron Dato Sri Rohani Abdul Karim and school headmaster Mahmud Ahad were also present at the gathering.
