Shahrizat extols state BN women for working hard
KUCHING: Woman members of Sarawak Barisan Nasional ( BN) have been praised for working hard even when there is no election.
National BN Wanita chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil made this remark when speaking at the BN Wanita dinner here on Monday night.
“The women of BN Sarawak are really excellent because they are not seasonal leaders. They are always working at the grassroots regardless of the season. The machinery is always on the move, getting close to the people and building good rapport every day.
“They can be likened to the backbone of BN Sarawak,” she said.
She also commended BN Sarawak Women’s machinery for being the most organised.
At the same time, she expressed BN Women’s respect and awe for the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
“BN Women really respect Adenan’s leadership. In two years, he has left indelible marks wherever he goes. Sarawak is lucky to have women ministers at both state and federal cabinets, and I believe under the chief minister’s leadership, BN Sarawak will record victory in the state election.
“We thank him for his concern and support for women’s participation in politics. He has done many things for women in Sarawak, giving extra positions for women as well as upgrading Women’s Bureau to a full department,” she said.

“Please do not to forget women candidates in the coming state election. In these days, it will not do to have any party that is not inclusive, that is, not including the participation of women or when there is no gender parity in politics.
“In order to be a developed nation, women’s participation is important,” she said.
Meanwhile, state BN Women chief Dato Sri Empiang Jabu noted that women always worked hard regardless of when elections were held.
“They are always moving on the ground with various activities and programmes for the people. They are always willing to help and listen to the voices of those on the ground. I am proud of the achievements by all the state BN component parties, because they show that our BN Women are always diligent in fulfilling their responsibilities.
“The cooperation and solidarity shown by the parties give confidence for us to work hard this coming election.
“No matter how busy we are, we know how to balance between managing our families and our work of getting close to the people,” she said.
