SARIKEI: The Sejiwa Senada programme has promoted a spirit of togetherness, which is vital to ensure peace, harmony and prosperity in the state.

Assistant Minister of Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh said the main objective of Sejiwa Senada is to strengthen cooperation between the people and the government as well as provide a one- stop centre for the convenience of the people.

During an appreciation dinner on Monday following the successful staging of the Sarikeileg of the programme, Len advised civil servants to adopt the Sejiwa Senada spirit when carrying out their duties.

He said the pooling of resources practised during the programme would enhance the performance and achievement of government agencies in the implementation of development programmes.

“I hope the various agencies involved in the upgrading of Rentap Road, as an example, will apply the Sejiwa Senada spirit to ensure the RM45 million project is completed in the specified 18 months,” he said.

Sarikei Resident Dr Anthony Valentine Laiseh said he was pleased and proud of the cooperation and dedication accorded by staff of various agencies during Sejiwa Senada from Feb 19-21.

“I am pleased to inform you all that our efforts have been acknowledged as the best organiser so far by the main organiser of the statewide Sejiwa Senada programme,” he said.

The programme held at the Sarikei Sports Complex registered some 136,000 visitors.

Some 600 attendees received various electrical and electronic items offered as lucky draw prizes.
