Socso fined bosses RM9 million in total since 2009

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 27,449 compound notices for various offences, involving fines totalling RM9 million, were issued by the Social Security Organisati­on ( Socso) since 2009 until Dec 31 last year to errant employers, said its chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammad.

He said 1,670 or 68.02 per cent of the compound notices that were issued during the period were for failure of employers to register their enterprise­s and workers with Socso.

Socso yesterday launched an operation to nab employers who failed to register their employees with the organisati­on.

Mohamed Azman advised employees who had not registered their employees with Socso to do so before March 31 to avoid any action.

He said as of Dec 31 last year, 499,840 employers had registered 6.3 million employees for Socso protection.
