Late Tun Razak conferred Outstanding Statesman Award
KUALA LUMPUR: The second prime minister, the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein was conferred the Outstanding Statesman Award at the Utusan Business Award 2015 yesterday.
The award was presented by the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah to his widow, Tun Rahah Mohammad Noah, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here.
Tun Abdul Razak, who was the father of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, received the award for his deeds and sacrifices as the architect who played an important role in the country’s development.
Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainudin, Utusan Melayu Berhad Group Chairman Datuk Mohamad Fatmi Che Salleh and Managing Director of the Utusan Melayu Group Managing Director Datuk Mohd Noordin Abbas.
The award, the first organised by the Utusan Melayu Group, also saw the President and Group Chief Executive of Permodalan Nasional Berhad Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman, the founder of Universiti Lim Kok Wing, Tan Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing, and Chairman of Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd Tan Sri G. Gnanalingam receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.
In addition, there were 31 other categories to give recognition to individuals of calibre who had contributed to the economic development of the nation.
They included the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Great Eastern Life Assurance Berhad, Datuk Koh Yaw Hui, who received the award for the Insurance Sector, and the Chairman of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal, in the socio- corporate sector.
The Group Managing Director of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din was selected as the Best Business Icon while the Managing Director of Jakel, Datuk Mohamed Faroz Mohamed Jakel received the Best Entrepreneur Award. — Bernama
