KUCHING: A Form 2 student has lodged a police report claiming that he was forced by his peers to punch another student, who then retaliated by beating him up.

The incident happened in the compound of a secondary school in the city on Thursday afternoon when the 14-year- old was brought by several other Form 2 students to a storage room, where another Form 2 boy was waiting.

The group then stood behind him and had allegedly ordered him to punch the other boy under the threat of being beaten up by them if he refused.

Fearful of being bashed up by the group, the student claimed he had no choice but to punch the other boy’s stomach, after which the latter retaliated by raining blows on his head and face.

The victim later related the incident to his family upon his return home and was brought to the police station to lodge a report later the same night.

In an unrelated case, a woman lost cash and other belongings on Thursday after falling victim to a snatch thief at Travillion Mall in Padungan.

The 30-year- old was walking alone in the area around 3pm when a male motorcyclist snatched her handbag as he rode past her from behind and sped off.

She ended up losing two mobile phones, a computer tablet, a few hundred ringgit and personal documents, but was not hurt in the incident.

Police are investigating both cases.
