Lodge students excel in SPM
KUCHING: Lodge Secondary School’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2015 candidates obtained excellent results.
The top scorer was Isaac Ng with 10A+, while Emelyne Ho, Jasmine Chiam, Phoebe Tan and Tan Poh Joo achieved straight A+. Another 24 students achieved distinctions for all subjects. A press release said parent-school cooperation was key to the success.
“Lodge School has always taken pride in our successful parentschool relationships, which have contributed greatly to our students’ all-rounded outstanding achievements,” said the statement.
Lodgians did exceptionally well in English Language – with 98 per cent scoring A- or better, for Mathematics, 86 per cent of students scored A- or better, and close to 60 per cent of students scored A- or better for Additional Mathematics.
“Our students also did well in the Sciences, 85 per cent of the students scored A- or better for General Science, 65 per cent scored A- or better for Physics, 77 per cent scored A- or better for Chemistry, and 65 per cent scored A- or better for Biology. It is worth noting that more than half of our Chemistry cohort scored an A+.
“Our students performed impressively for the other subjects as well. One hundred per cent of students scored A- or better for Art, while 82 per cent scored A- or better in Information Communication Technology (ICT). The Class of 2015 also recorded improved results for Moral Studies, History, Business Studies and Economics,” added the statement.

Lodge Group of Schools director Thomas Huo said the Class of 2015 not only excelled academically but showed strength of character and leadership qualities.
“Their achievements bear testament to the hard work and dedication of all our teachers and parents. We thank them for nurturing holistic Lodgians who are set to make a difference in society,” he said. Lodge Secondary School principal Dr Chen Siaw Wee said the Class of 2015 were exemplary role models for their juniors.
“The school could not be more proud of them. We are also grateful for the strong support and guidance given by the teachers and parents.”
Meanwhile, Wong Yu Wen and Angelyn Tan were selected to represent Malaysia at the prestigious World Scholar’s Cup tournament at Yale University, which coincided with the SPM.
Together with support from their parents and teachers, both worked hard to juggle their demanding commitments. At the World Scholar’s Cup, Angelyn was ranked among the global top 50 at the Individual Writing Senior Honor Medals, while Wong was included in the Arts Honor Roll.
