CN235 flight, voice data recovered for analysis

KUALA LUMPUR: Data from the flight and voice data recorders of the Royal Malaysian Air Force ( RMAF) aircraft CN235 which crashed in Kuala Selangor last Friday, were recovered after the recorders were sent to Bandung for analysis on Monday.

RMAF chief, General Tan Sri Roslan Saad who confirmed the matter, said the data had not been analysed.

“I understand the data was downloaded but not analysed... initially, there were technical hitches as the devices had cracked and the parts, not in good condition.

“Our two engineers are now with the original equipment manufactur­er in Bandung to assist in the analysis,” he said at a media conference after officiatin­g the Internatio­nal Monitoring Team-Mindanao 11 ( TPA-M11) here yesterday.

Roslan however, said he could not specify the time taken for the analysis.

“We will also interview the crew members involved in the incident to know the actual cause of the crash... salvage operations are ongoing now, we are in the process of lifting the tail of the aircraft,” he said.

In the 8.50am incident, the plane carrying eight crew members made an emergency landing after experienci­ng engine problem, on a beach near Taman Malawati Utama, Kuala Selangor.

All crew members were rescued with the assistance of local fishermen in the area.

The CN235 black box was recovered on Monday.— Bernama
