RM50,000 sponsorship for Baleh Raft Safari
KUCHING: The Baleh Raft Safari 2016 organising committee Thursday received a sponsorship of RM50,000 from Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd.
The sponsorship was received by Land Development Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing, who is also Baleh assemblyman.
The event will be held on the first weekend of April. According to Masing, the sponsorship was for the smooth running of the event first held in 1996.

Fifty teams participated in the event last year so the organisers are expecting more than 50 teams this year.
“The event will test the endurance of participants who have to endure more than six hours of rafting and pass through several challenging rapids before reaching the finishing line. The safari will see participants make stops at two longhouses located along the river, which is why the safari takes two days,” he added.
With the event getting bigger each year, the safari has entered the state tourism calendar with foreign tourists keen to witness it or to take part.
Also present at the event was Sarawak Hidro managing director Zulkifle Osman.
