SMK Lutong scores 95.14 pct pass rate in last year’s SPM
MIRI: SMK Lutong has once again emerged among the top public schools here, with 53 out of the total 350 candidates of last year’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM) examination scoring 5As and above.
Principal Marcus Hugo Matu Lejau told The Borneo Post yesterday that the school attained a pass rate of 95.14 per cent for SPM last year versus 94.77 in 2014 — an improvement of 0.37 per cent.
Last year, a total of 440,682 candidates nationwide sat for SPM, the results for which were announced on Thursday.
Overall, the school fared better this time, having improved its School Average Grade ( GPS) to 4.50 from 4.52 previously.

Of the 350, only 333 — or 95.14 per cent — received the SMP certificate that satisfied compulsory passes in Bahasa Melayu and History.
The A and A+ scorers were Sophia Lungan Padan, Voon Jia Yi, Angela Pangai, Ashvin Praveen, Bong Jian Cheng, Celyn Tiong Ru Yi, Christopher Bato Ding, Clara Wong Zi Yi, Danesh Mailvaganam, Lee You Ping, Liew Hung Yi, Nelson Lee Kuan Ming, Tay Si Sheng, Mark Xavier Conrad, Chang Jin Kiat, Jordan Wong, Danial B Sharudin and Emily Elizabeth Beard.
Marcus attributed the achievement to all the teachers, school management and parents for their strong support and cooperation.
“Definitely, we are happy and will give cash incentives to the topachievers during a school event soon,” he said.
