More devt for Marudi in 11MP — Entri

-

MIRI: Tinjar, Beluru and Marudi areas will have electricity, roads and water supply under the 11th Malaysia plan.

Marudi assemblyman Datuk Sylvester Entri Muran, who disclosed this, said all the development plans for Marudi constituency were in place and some of the projects would take off soon.

“All the planning and development are in place already and the BN government and myself as the wakil rakyat never neglected the needs of Marudi people,” he said during the thanksgiving ceremony of Rumah Abok Jabu yesterday during which he also launched the ‘ Mulong Youngsters’ group.

Present were Beluru District Officer Mataip Sayu, Lapok SAO Belayong Pok, Pemanca Enggah Muga, Penghulu Ella Bong, Penghulu Sedu Grang, Marudi Jasa chief Thomas Paran, TR Abok Jabu and the newly appointed Penghulu Kallang Ami.

The event was attended by about 3,000 people from nearly 60 longhouses in Tinjar, Teru and Beluru.

Entri envisaged that by next year most parts of Marudi constituency would have roads, electricity and water supply.

He said this included the completion of phase two of the Beluru water supply ( RM64 million), Benawa, Long Maro and Sungai Peking water supply ( RM52 million), phase two of Tinjar-Lapok water supply ( RM22 million), water supply to Rumah Nura and Rumah Turam Sungai Buri ( RM2.5 million) and Pengelayan road ( RM4.8 million)

The Assistant Minister of Public Utilities ( Water Supply) also said the electricity supply project under the Rural Electrification Scheme ( RES) in nine longhouses at Sungai Nat and Bukit Limau costing RM5.2 million would be implemented this year.

He said the longhouses are Rumah Tindit, Rumah Ugak, Rumah Gelau, Rumah Ruang, Rumah Unsam, Rumah Merdan, Rumah Seman, Rumah Anchum and Rumah Jinggau.

“The people must appreciate the development brought by the BN government either through SUPP, SPDP, PBB, PRS or Teras,” he added.

As an example of fairness, he said all longhouses along BeluruBakong road would benefit from the Beluru water treatment irrespective of their political affiliation as long as they are in BN.

Commenting further, he said the Beluru- Lapok road now connects Upper Baram, Tinjar, Teru and Peking to major towns in Sarawak

However, he regretted that some people were not thankful to the BN government for the road because they had forgotten the hardship they went through before the road was built.

He also stressed that he was always in the constituency when not pre- occupied with his official duty.

“I hope the people of Marudi constituency will show their appreciation to BN in the coming election,” he said.

Commenting further on the rapid development in Ulu Teru, the most remote area in Marudi constituency, he said it was different from before when it had no road access and the only mode of travel was by boat which took four hours from Miri and one day from Marudi.

Now, he said, the villagers could reach their longhouses within two hours from Miri.
