KAPIT: Community leaders were on Saturday told that the Sejiwa Senada programme means ‘Satu Fikir Satu Suara’ (One Mind, One Voice).

As such, they should be together in supporting Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and his administration, said Land Development Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing.

The Baleh assemblyman said this when speaking at the opening of the one- day development and leadership seminar for Kapit community leaders at the Civic Centre here.

Some 520 community leaders from Song, Belaga, Bukit Mabong and Kapit districts attended the seminar.

“We should adhere to the advice of the Chief Minister when he officiated at the opening of the Sejiwa Senada programme at Padang Sukan this morning ( Saturday). So let us community leaders, let everybody be ‘One Mind, One Voice’ so that we win in the upcoming election,” said Masing.

“If we win all the seats in Kapit then people like us wakil rakyat ( elected representatives) will have better bargaining power with the government for more development projects.

“That’s why it’s so important we must be together, PBB, PRS, SPDP and SUPP, to ensure BN candidates win in the election,” he stressed.

Altogether there are six state seats in Kapit; namely Katibas, Pelagus, Baleh, Belaga and the two new seats of Bukit Goram and Murum.

On another matter, Masing revealed that the road project from Kapit to Putai, Baleh is 73 km long and cost RM1.4 billion.

“We’ve the money and we’re now in the process of tendering. The ongoing Kapit/Song/ Kanowit road construction will be ready by 2018.

“By then, Kapit will no longer be an island. You and me we can drive to Kuching or Sibu,” he disclosed.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, political secretaries to the chief minister Wilson Nyabong Ijang, Jefferson Jamit Unyat and Tengku Geruna, Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong, Kapit district officer Elvis Didit and Bukit Mabong district officer Douglas Pungga also attended the seminar.
