SIBU: Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh said the government spent RM1.1 million on various development projects at the resettlement scheme areas in Bawang Assan, Batang Lebaan last year.

The Second Finance Minister and Minister of Local Government and Community Development said the amount did not include the RM4.4 million for the construction of a concrete bridge there.

“We can see that a large amount of money had been spent for development in Bawang Assan. The RM1.1 million had been allocated for the Rural Transformation Project ( RTP), Basic Infrastructure Projects ( Pias) and Marris,” he said at a meet-the-people session at Bawang Assan multipurpose hall on Sunday.

He reminded the people that they needed the Barisan Nasional ( BN) government for the development and upgrading of infrastructures.

On the Bawang Assan concrete bridge which is 60 metres long and 7.7 metres wide, Wong said the project was completed on Nov 26 last year.

On the coming state election, he urged voters not to be influenced by the opposition parties whom he said promised things they could not fulfil.

“I hope that all of you will give full support to BN which had brought many changes and development to this state,” he added.

Also present at the event were political secretary to the chief minister Andrew Shilling Bangit, Temenggong Stanley Geramong, Pemanca James Semilan, Penghulu Jeffery Sut, Penghulu Richard Ampi and the meet-the-people session organising chairman Johnny Weiss.
