BN components to give CM rousing welcome

-

BAU: The Barisan Nasional components in Tasik Biru are ready to give Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem the most rousing and warmest of welcome when he comes to the ‘Leader Meet The People’ session at the Civic Centre here tomorrow.

This was the commitment made during a meeting among the four BN component parties to finalise preparations for the function which will be hosted by Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP).

The meeting last Sunday was chaired by SPDP senior vicepresident Datuk Paul Igai, and attended by representatives from SPDP, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB), Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).

Also in attendance was SPDP’s recommended candidate for the seat, local corporate figure Dato Henry Harry Jinep.

SPDP Tasik Biru chairman Michael Siten said droves of people are expected to come for the function which also doubles up as an Easter open house in conjunction with the Easter Week celebrated since last week.

“We expect a crowd of 5,000 to 6,000 people, but it could be more due to it being an Easter-themed celebration. There will be live music from a band in attendance, while the crowd will get to enjoy free food and free drinks.

“We expect the crowd to form up starting 9am, to receive the arrival of our guest of honour at 10.30am. Our Chief Minister is coming at the right time to meet us and to celebrate Easter together with us,” he said.

SPDP has repeatedly declared it will not give away the Tasik Biru seat, one of the traditional seats allocated to the party under the BN seat allocation formula.

The other BN components have also made public their statements, concurring that Tasik Biru belongs to SPDP, and they have also given their all-round support to Henry Jinep.

Tasik Biru is also one of the eight Bidayuh-majority seats out of the total 82 state seats in Sarawak up for grabs during the coming state election.
