Integration of Diverse Communities workshop at BCCK this Sunday
KUCHING: A workshop titled ‘Integration of Diverse Communities’ will be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) this Sunday from 9am to 6.30pm.
The workshop, which is the second of the four under the series ‘ Building Sarawakian Creative and Cultural Communities’, is organised by My Performing Arts Agency ( MyPAA) in partnership with Tanoti.
This second workshop is the follow- up of the first baseline study workshop ‘ Scoping for Opportunities’ held on Jan 29.
It is aimed at empowering local community builders and to assist them in connecting tools required by Sarawakian entrepreneurs for taking projects forward.
It looks towards optimising resources, knowledge and crosspollination of ideas to generate innovative inputs as many people from the arts and crafts are disconnected and not working together.
Community builder Lais de Oliveira will be back to facilitate this workshop.
Oliveira described ‘a community’ as any group of people who is engaged, mobilised or motivated to take action towards the same purpose or goal.
She said building a community, in that sense, can mean to motivate and engage members of a team within a company, project or organisation.
It can also mean aligning people towards a common goal, or get people to be passionate about an idea, mission or product.
It involves anything which brings passion out of people to take action because they care about something, because they will feel rewarded by doing so, or because they feel a sense of belonging to it.
The later half of this one- day event will consist of an intellectual property workshop with celebrity lawyer Samuel Seow from Samuel Seow Law Corporation.
His session ‘ Protecting Your Creative Works’ will lay down the foundation and basics of building a successful arts empire and leaving a lasting legacy, and navigating the legal and financial aspects.
This workshop is relevant to anyone who is interested in impacting their surroundings (people, environment, city).
This includes people who are holding or interested in holding any position that involves managing people, those who founded a company or are planning to, and other strategic partners.
The workshop is free but seats are limited.
Those interested must register at gogreat.my.
