KAPIT: The Police contingent here celebrated the Police Day yesterday.
The actual Police Day falls on March 25. As it was Good Friday, the Sarawak contingent celebrated the day on the following day ( Saturday, March 26).
However, due to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s visit to Sibu, Kanowit and Kapit, the contingents in the three towns could only celebrate the occasion yesterday.
When officiating at the celebration here at the police headquarters along Selirik, OCPD Freddy Bian read the message from the Inspector General of Police ( IGP) and later presented promotion letters, Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (APC) and letters of appreciation to police personnel and civilian staff.
Stressing on the theme of this year’s celebration ‘ Police and Community Together’, Freddy said it was vital that the police and community work in smart partnership to control and prevent crimes. By working together, he said members of the public would appreciate the police role in the maintenance of peace and stability.
