SJK Chung Sing, SMK Tung Hua share honours
SIBU: SJK Chung Sing and SMK Tung Hua were crowned the overall champions of the primary and secondary schools categories respectively at the Sibu Division Inter- Schools Wushu Championships that ended at SJK Taman Rajang last Saturday.
SJK Chung Sing successfully defended their title after capturing 18 gold, six silver and five bronze medals to amass 126 points.
Runners-up were SJK Taman Rajang who had 113 points after winning 15 gold, seven silver and four bronze medals while SJK Thian Chin took seven gold, four silver and two bronze medals to collect 55 points for third spot.
In fifth and sixth spots were SJK Guong Ann with two gold and one silver medals for 18 pts and SJK Tung Hua with one gold and five points.
Shaun Kiu of SJK © Chung Sing and Cindy Hii Yee Fong SJK © Thian Chin were adjudged the best boy and best girls athletes respectively.
In the secondary schools section, in the absence of defending champions SMK Lanang, SMK Tung Hua are the new overall champions after collecting 14 points from two gold and one silver.
In second place were SMK Chung Hua with 10 points while SMK Tiong Hin finished third on five points.
SM Catholic High and SM St Elizabeth, which won one gold medal each, were placed fourth and fifth respectively.
The best boy athlete and best girl athlete awards went to Danny Ling Heng Kee of SMK Chung Hua and Grace Wong Ming Ming of SMK St Elizabeth.
The one- day competition jointly organised by Kelab Wushu Permai Timur and Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) Pelawan branch was participated by over 100 athletes from five secondary schools, five primary schools and three kindergartens.
SUPP Pelawan secretary Michael Tiang opened the event whi le SUPP Dudong deputy chairman Dato Sri Benny Lee, who represented SUPP Bawang Assan chairman Robert Lau Hui Chew, closed the event and gave away the prizes.
Also present were Michael Tiang’s representative Song Ik Siu, who is SUPP Pelawan vice chairman, SUPP Pelawan Women’s Section chief Kno Chu Ing, Wushu Federation of Sarawak ( WFS) treasurer TH Ting and organising chairperson Wong Hua Yiing, who is also WFS vice president and Kelab Wushu Permai Timur vice president.
