SITEC launches free photo studio to aid e-merchants

-

SHAH ALAM: The newlylaunched Photo Studio at the Selangor Digital Creative Centre is officially open to all e-merchants with no charge for the use of the space.

This, according to Selangor Information Technology and ECommerce Council (SITEC) chief executive Yong Kai Ping, is to help improve the quality of service offered by local e-merchants in their e-stores.

“In essence, the photo of the product is what e-merchants are selling through their e-store. By opening the Photo Studio for use to all e-merchants, SITEC hopes that e- merchants will be able to better present their products on their e-stores, as well as be able to hone and practise their photography skills,” said Yong in a statement yesterday.

e-Merchants intent on utilising the studio should note that, while the use of the facilities will be at no charge, a photographer will not be included. SITEC will, however, also supply a list of professional photographers and videographers that e-merchants can contact.

At the same time,

in conjunction with the Multimedia Development Corporation’s (MDeC) #MYCYBERSALE2016 event, SITEC, in collaboration with MDeC and Photobook Malaysia, will be offering 100 hours of free photography for e- tailers participating in the #MYCYBERSALE2016 event, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

#MYCYBERSALE, launched in 2014, is the first government-led initiative organised by MDeC, with the aim of increasing Malaysia’s e-commerce domestic revenue, as well as bringing together online buyers and sellers. In 2015, this event saw over 4,500 e-merchants taking part, with RM117 million in gross merchandise value recorded.

The SDCC Photo Studio, sponsored by Asia’s most popular photo service company, Photobook Worldwide, was launched by Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, chief minister of Selangor, as well as Datuk Teng Chang Khim of the Selangor Executive Council.
