Tengku Azlan launches book to drive nation towards good principles

-

KUALA LUMPUR: “The country’s destiny is determined by her people. The people’s destiny is decided by a good government,” these were some of the words of wisdom penned out in the book titled, ‘Azlan: On Principles’ by former politician Datuk Seri Tengku Azlan Sultan Abu Bakar.

Tengku Azlan who is a member of the Pahang royal family, had his book launched here yesterday, by a close friend Datuk Tony de Silva and it is a compilation of observations on the business of living one’s life with great ethical conduct on achieving success in all spheres of life.

The 120-page book was written and published by award-winning author Bernice Narayanan who had described Tengku Azlan’s thoughts and message in the book in relation to a character in the famous Chronicles of Narnia movie blockbuster called ‘Aslan’.

“Just like Aslan, portrayed as a lion and one true King of Narnia, I look at Tengku Azlan as someone who will be able to reawaken the passion and commitment of the nation’s Founding Fathers through this publication,” Narayanan told Bernama.

She also said that it took two months to write this book unlike the previous books she had written over the years, and coming up with a title or theme was indeed challenging.

Meanwhile, Tengku Azlan during his speech said this book was written mainly for the younger generation to live a life based on principles and to always stay humble no matter where they are in life.

“I wanted to encourage, not just the seasoned business community but most importantly our prized younger generation, about the importance of having principles and revisiting old sounding values that are still most relevant today such as honesty, tenacity and also perseverance. We owe it to our future generation, a culture that puts value first above profits and fame,” added Tengku Azlan. — Bernama
