Methodist Charity golf awash with cars and cash for prizes

SIBU: The 7th Sarawak Methodist Golf Fellowship Charity Tournament on June 11 at Sibu Golf Course (tee-off: 8am ) will offer two cars for hole-in- one prizes, a Mitsubishi Triton Adventure on Hole 7 and and a Honda HRV on Hole 14, plus cash prizes galore for other holes and winners of categories.

Sibu GC secretary Dato Thomas Tieng Mee Tung said the championsh­ip is open to all amateurs with a maximum handicap of 36 or NSH/ USGA Handicap index for men ( blue tee) and a maximum handicap of 33.2 or NSH/ USGA Handicap index whichever the lower.

“It is open to all golfers,” he added.

The tournament, organised by Sibu Methodist Golf Fellowship, is divided into individual­s (nett) and team event where Tieng expects teams from Sabah, Miri, Kuching and host Sibu.

Entry fee at RM150 per person must be paid to either: Lau Hie Ping ( 019- 8863339) or Tieng ( 0138281111) before June 6.

Besides the hole-in- one prizes, winners of the hole- in- one for Holes 3, 8, 13 ad 17 will also win RM2,000 each.

The winner in the individual­s nett event will get RM1,500 plus a trophy.

The first runner-up( RM 1,200), second runner-up ( RM1,000) and the third runner-up ( RM800).

Individual gross event winners over 18 holes will win RM1,000, RM800, RM700, RM600 and RM500 respective­ly.

There are also novelty prizes for Longest Drive ( Hole 15), Nearest to Pin (all par 3), Nearest to Line ( Hole 1), best player for 1st nine holes and 2nd nine holes.

Due to an expected big number of ent ries, Tieng said the shotgun tee- off wi l l be held twice – one at 7.30am and another at 12.30pm.

A prize- giving dinner will be held at RH Hotel at 7.30 in the evening.
