Prepare for next GE now that state election over – Rosey

-

MIRI: Rural folk in Sibuti should not grow complacent with Barisan Nasional (BN)’s victory in Bekenu and Lambir in the last state election, said Assistant Minister of Solidarity Rosey Yunus.

Instead, the people should continue with this momentum and prepare for the next general election (GE), she urged.

“The general election is expected to be held two years from now. Thus, we must prepare for that and continue with this momentum to defend the seat of Sibuti.

“Only with that can the people in Bekenu, Niah and Lambir expect continuous and more development to be implemented under BN leadership,” she stated when officiating at the ‘Appreciation cum Thanksgiving Lunch of BN Victory for N71 Bekenu’ at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club (EVGCC) yesterday.

Rosey, who is Bekenu assemblywoman, believed that with continuous effort, BN would be able to record another victory in Sibuti in the next parliamentary election.

At the same time, she attributed her recent success in the state election to all the people and members of the election machinery of Bekenu.

“We created history in the 11th state election as Bekenu secured all the ballots.

“Without your dedicated commitment, we would not have been able to gain a big majority of over 4,700 votes.”

On her appointment as Assistant Minister for Solidarity, she promised to do her best in her new role.

“I was the Assistant Minister for Early Childhood Education and Family Development before being given this new portfolio. It will not be an easy task but I have high confidence to take on this responsibility,” she said.

Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang also congratulated Rosey on her recent win.

More than 1,000 guests consisting of members of BN machinery of Bekenu, community leaders and councillors attended the appreciation lunch.
