AG heads Agong’s award list, ‘Tan Sri’ for Empiang Jabu

PUTRAJAYA: Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali heads a list of 1,546 recipients of 2016 Federal Orders, Decoration­s and Medals in conjunctio­n with the birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.

Mohamed Apandi was the sole recipient of Darjah Panglima Mangku Negara (PMN) which carries the title Tan Sri.

Meanwhile, 52 recipients were bestowed the Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota (PSM) which also carries the title Tan Sri.

Among the recipients were Federal Court Judge Datuk Ramly Ali, Federal Court Judge Datuk Azahar Mohamed, Federal Court Judge Datuk Zaharah Ibrahim, senior deputy secretary-general Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Othman Mahmood and Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Othman Hashim.

Other recipients of the PSM were Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry secretaryg­eneral Datuk Seri Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, Education director-general Datuk Seri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof, Public Service Commission chairman Datuk Seri Arpah Abdul Razak and Malaysian Islamic Developmen­t Department director-general Datuk Othman Mustafa.

Apart from that, the PSM was also conferred on National Culture and Arts Department director-general Datuk Norliza Rofli, Securities Commission Malaysia executive chairman Datuk Seri Ranjit Singh a/l Ajith Singh, Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representa­tives informatio­n chief Datuk Abdul Rahman Sulaiman, Latimer Corporatio­n Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Dennis Chandrathe­epam Latimer, Axiata Group Berhad president and group executive director Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim.

Also receiving the PSM were Widad Business Group’s group executive chairman Datuk Seri Muhammad Ikmal Opat Abdullah, Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences Pro Chancellor Datuk R.Palaniappa­n, Chief of Navy Admiral Datuk Seri Ahmad Kamarulzam­an Ahmad Badaruddin, deputy InspectorG­eneral of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim and former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar.

Apart from that, the PSM which carries the title Tan Sri was also bestowed on Umno Wanita chief/Women’s Economic Advisor Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Selangor State Federal Action Council adviser Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Kampar Jaya MIC division chairman Datuk S.Veerasinga­m, Parti Bersatu India Malaysia president Datuk Seri S.Nallakarup­pan, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Wanita chief Datuk Seri Empiang anak Antak.

Also receiving the PSM were Parti Progresif Penduduk Malaysia financial advisor Datuk MN Puvanendra­n, Federation of Malaysian Manfacture­rs president Datuk Seri Saw Choo Boon and former Plantation Industries and Commoditie­s deputy minister, Datuk Noriah Kasnon (Posthumous­ly) who died in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak on May 5.

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) chaiman Datuk Seri Ibrahim Saad, Judicial Appointmen­ts Commission member Datuk Seri Sulong Mat Jeraie, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) academic Datuk Prof Dr Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar, Universiti Malaya (UM) vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin, executive chairman AHT (Norlan United) and Carriage Sdn Bhd Datuk Abdullah Taib, Rural Capital Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Abu Seman Yusop are also recipients of the PSM.

Also Arus Intelek Sdn Bhd executive chairman Datin Azizah Abdul Ghani; The AlloyMtd Group president and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Dr Azmil Khalili Khalid; Pembinaan Azam Jaya Sdn Bhd managing director (MD) Datuk Joseph Lo @ Lo Tain Foh; BREM Holdings Berhad CEO and MD, Datuk Khoo Chai Kaa; ECK Developmen­t Sdn Bhd MD, Datuk Khor Eng Chuen; United U-Li Corporatio­n Berhad Group MD, Datuk Lee Yoon Wah.

The Tan Sri title is also conferred on Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representa­tives (Mubarak)deputy president Datuk Md Yazid Baba, HMS Oil and Gas Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Norazman Hamidun, BCB Berhad Group MD Datuk Tan Seng Leong.

Other recipients of the Tan Sri title are Dimensi Eksklusif (M) Sdn Bhd MD Datuk Seri Zainul Azman Zainul Aziz; Synergy Energy (Labuan) Ltd founder and director, Datuk Seri Loo Chong Sing and Retired Senior Police Officers Associatio­n (RESPA) president, Datuk Mohd Ismail Che Rus.

Former Deputy Informatio­n Minister Datuk Mohd Khalid Mohd Yunus, Kota Baharu UMNO chief Datuk Mohamad Fatmi Che Salleh, former MCA Central Committee member MCA Datuk Wong Mook Leong, former MCA president Tan Koon Swan @ Chin Khoon, CCK Consolidat­ed Holdings Berhad chairman Datuk Tiong Su Kouk, former Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) deputy president Datuk Lau Ngan Siew and United Pasokmomog­un Kadazandus­un Murut Organisati­on (UPKO) vice president Datuk Seri Wences Angang are also awarded the PSM.

Meanwhile, 79 people were awarded the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) which carries the title ‘Datuk’, including the late Kuala Kangsar Member of Parliament Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad (posthumous) and Secretary-General of the Ministry of the Plantation Industries and Commoditie­s Datuk Dr Sundaran Annamalai (Posthumous). Wan Mohammad Khair-il and Sundaran were killed in a helicopter accident in Sarawak on May 5.

The award was also given to former Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the late Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais (Posthumous) who was murdered in September 2015.

Also awarded the PJN were three Appeals Court Judges, namely Datuk Kamardin Hashim, Harminder Singh Dhaliwal and Ong Lam Kiat, as well as Legal Advisor in the Prime Minister’s Department Datin Almalena Sharmila Johan Thambu, Director of Communicat­ions in the Finance Ministry Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor, eye specialist and renowned speaker Prof Dr Che Muhaya Mohamad, Deputy President of the Associatio­n of Malaysian Armed Forces veterans (ATM) Kapten Sharuddin Omar, former president of Dong Zong Quek Chee Hiang @ Quek Suan Hiang and MIC secretary-general A. Sakthivel.

The Panglima Setia Diraja (PSD) award which carries the title ‘Datuk’ was awarded to three people, namely the Secretary of the Managment Services Division in the Prime Minister’s Department Halimah Hashim, Assistant Chief of Staff of ATM Headquarte­rs for Personnel Services Major General Mohd Yadi and aide-de-camp of the Sultan of Kedah Kolonel Datuk Tunku Aziz Bendahara Tunku Nong.

Meanwhile, 37 individual­s received the Darjah Kebesaran Johan Mangku Negara (JMN) including the Deputy Head I of the Legal Division in the AttorneyGe­neral’s Chambers Alice Loke Yee Ching and dental expert Dr Rashidah Burhanudin.

83 people received the Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) including the Senior Consultant (Paediatric) at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, Muar, Johor Dr Angeline Wang Seng Lian and Director of TV Programmin­g, Broadcasti­ng Department, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Norliza Mohd Ali.

The Johan Setia Diraja (JSD) Award was also conferred on Datu Mustapa Han, the Private Secretary of the Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri, and five others. The Bintang Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN) were given to 224 people while 10 people were awarded Bintang Kesatria Setia Diraja (KSD).

National diving queen Pandelela Rinong Pamg, Chong Siau Chen, a teacher in SMK Wira Penrissen, Kota Samarahan Sarawak and Executive Secretary of the Malaysian Welfare Centre Siti Fadilah Sudin were among the 374 recipients of the Bintang Ahli Mangku Negara (AMN). — Bernama
