Six persons nabbed for carrying out criminal activities

LIMBANG: Six people in Limbang were arrested by police on Wednesday and yesterday for committing various offences ranging from drug traffickin­g and abuse to housebreak­ing and selling illegal 4- digit numbers to the public.

Limbang District police chief, Superinten­dent Mohd Bukhori Saffai said for the drug traffickin­g and abuse case, a man, 44, was arrested in front of a 1Malaysia Shop at 2.35am yesterday.

“He was found in possession of various packets of drugs believed to be Ketamine, 17 Ecstacy pills, 60 Erimine 5 pills hidden in his sling bag. His urine tested positive for Amphethami­ne,” said Mohd Bukhori yesterday. He said the case is being investigat­ed under Section 39a(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Mohd Bukhori said for Ops Dadu to round up those selling illegal 4- digit numbers to the public, three locations were raided on Wednesday with the first operation conducted at 4.40pm in Limbang town where a male suspect was detained, and gambling gadgets and cash confiscate­d.

“At two spots at the Border of Tedungan, we rounded up two suspects and confiscate­d gambling equipment and cash,” he said.

In the housebreak­ing case, a man incurred losses totalling RM2,100 when thieves stole several items from his house at Batu Biah recently. Mohd Bukhori said the victim only discovered the breakin upon returning from Miri on July 11 at 9.30pm after a trip of more than a week’s duration.

“Among the items stolen were air conditione­rs, gas cylinder, hamper and coins worth RM100. Two suspects are being remanded for four days until July 30 to facilitate investigat­ions under Section 457 of the Penal Code,” he added.
