46 student DJs ready to take the mic at Tea FM

-

KUCHING: Following a short practical training, Tea FM has selected 18 students from CHMS No.1, 18 from CHMS No. 3 and 10 from CHMS No.4 – 46 in all – to host its new ‘Student DJ’ programme next month.

Tea FM signed an agreement with the management committee of Kuching Chung Hua Middle School (CHMS) No.1, 3 and 4 here on Wednesday.

Student DJs will be hosting weekend radio shows on topics such as entertainment, travel, lifestyle and trends to get closer with younger audiences.

“This is a good training ground to nurture more future media workers. People say ‘ everyone can report news’ on social media but news should be processed and presented to the public by professional media workers,” said the schools’ management committee chairman Richard Wee at the agreement signing ceremony.

Also present at the signing were Tea FM programme and planning manager April Lau, Tea FM director Chia Chiew Boon and Tea FM acting programme manager Lenny Chew.

The radio station also conducted a listenership survey at Crown Square shopping mall yesterday.

Participants who successfully completed the survey received a free gift.

Similar surveys will be held at other shopping malls.

‘Student DJ’ is among the new programmes being launched by the radio station.

Beginning August, the Tea FM Chinese section will also be presenting new content from Monday to Friday, 6am-7pm.

The show will be presented by different DJ combinations.

Audiences can tune in to Tea FM at FM102.7 in Kuching and FM102.8 in Kota Kinabalu.
