Lodge schools to hold ‘Evening with the Stars’ on July 30
KUCHING: Lodge Group of Schools will proudly present an ‘Evening with the Stars’ at SM Lodge school hall on July 30 beginning 7pm.
Featuring 25 performances that showcase the artistic talents of students from Lodge Kindergarten, Lodge National Primary, Lodge National Secondary and Lodge International schools, audience can look forward to performances such as the ‘ngajat’, gymnastics solo, modern day beatboxing and classical music just to name a few.
As part of Lodge School’s global outlook, there will also be a Latin dance performance by Jacklyn Phang and Amelia Voon. While these two young ladies are already excellent dancers, they have teamed up especially for this performance, aptly titled, ‘Senõrita’.
In Spanish, ‘Senõrita’ means ‘miss’ or ‘lady’. True to its name, the dance depicts the pride and dignity of youthful Spanish ladies. The choreography involves graceful arm movements and rhythmic footwork based on Latin American dance technique Paso Doble and the Flamenco dance.
Another performance to look forward to will be ‘Wings’, which is a belly dance performance by Laura Chew, Natsuki Chieng and Belle Wong, who had previously won the 2014 Malaysia Open Oriental Dance Art Competition.
The audience can expect a stunning belly dance performance from these talented dancers on Saturday night.
The performing arts are a crucial aspect of Lodge School, as it strives to be a school of choice which is capable of providing an optimal environment for the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual development of the students.
Through this event, students are not only developing their potential in the performing arts, but are also challenged to exercise discipline as they juggle their demanding practice schedules with their academic work.
Lodge Group of Schools director Thomas Huo said in a statement: “The preparation for ‘Evening with the Stars’ has brought out the best in our students; not only have their artistic talents been elevated through the intensive practice, they have also shown maturity in their time management skills.
“Together with their very supportive parents, we are very proud of them, and welcome the Kuching community to share in our pride and joy as well.”
As the Lodge Group of Schools is run by the non-profit making Lodge School Association, this year’s concert serves as a fund-raising event.
The revenue from the concert will be used for upgrading the audio-visual system in both the National and International School halls, in order to better serve the growing student population.
