Three Chinese nationals in bus accident still in hospital

KUANTAN: Three Chinese national tourists who were injured in the accident on Wednesday at KM17.13 involving a bus which was travelling down Genting Highlands, are still at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Bentong district police chief Supt Mohamad Mansor Mohd Nor said the three had been identified as Wei Quanying, 45, who sustained a fractured hip; Zhang Aihua, 41, who was injured on the head and neck; and Chen Jing, 38, who broke her right leg.

“The bus was carrying 25 passengers including four children and a tour guide.

“Fifteen of them were taken to the hospital for treatment while the rest were allowed to return to their hotel in Petaling Jaya.

“Investigations found that the bus rebounded at a corner and hit the road divider before overturning, badly damaging the right side of the bus,” he told reporters here yesterday.

He said the bus owned by HTC Travel company was headed to Kuala Lumpur after leaving the Sykway Station in Genting Highlands about 6.15pm.

Mohamad Mansor said the other victims were Yang Hengchun, 68, Zhang Shentai, 65, Yang Mingfang, 58, Xu Guanqun, 55, Liu Rongming, 51, Wang Zhongwei, 46, Wei Aiming, 41, Liang Lumin, 40, Zhang Yan, 39, Chen Jing, 38, and Ye Juan, 31. He said the rest were Sun Yurong, 29, Shi Wei, 27, Zou Yingxia, 27, Zuo Jiangang, 27, Xu Yifeng, 24, Wei Jiayu, 18, Wang Ziyi, 17, Wan Xilai, 10, Liang Chinhao, 8, Sun JingJia, 6, and Zao Haoting, 4.

Mohamad Mansor said the tour guide Yap Poh Chin, 37, from Jinjang Utara, Kuala Lumpur did not suffer any injury.

The 7.15pm incident killed the bus driver Tan Ching Kok, 50, from Kampar, Perak, who was pinned to his seat. — Bernama
