Aslina and Aiman book semi-final tickets

KUCHING: Aslina Chua An Ping and Muhd Aiman Hamdan marched into the semi- finals of the singles competitio­n in the Sukma tennis competitio­n at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Associatio­n (SLTA) Tennis Centre yesterday.

Aslina disposed of Sabah’s Nursharnee­m Imann 6- 0, 6- 0 to seal her place in the women’s singles semi-fi nals.

She will play Sharifah Elysia Wan Rahman of Selangor today while the other semi-fi nal will be between top seed Sara Nayar of Terengganu and Sharifah Elsa of Selangor who beat Natalie loke of Penang 6- 0, 6- 0 and Nur Hani Zoheerah from Negeri Sembilan 6-1, 6-2 respective­ly.

Aiman continued his winning run to beat the fourth seed Liew Kah Sing of Federal Territory 75, 6- 4 and will meet Perlis’ Koay Hao Sheng who defeated Shamirul Shahril of Selangor 6- 4, 6-2.

Tournament top seed Ahmed Deedat Abdul Razak from Selangor eased into the semi-final with a 6- 0, 6- 3 win over Naufal Siddiq Kamaruzzma­n of Terenggnau.

His next opponent is Sabah’s Christian Didier Chin who bounced back from one set down to beat Perlis’ Koay Hao Ci 2- 6, 61, 6- 4.

Meanwhile, Sarawak has only one pair left in the mixed doubles contest after Low Zhe Han-Belinda Chai lost 6-7( 3), 5-7 to Selangor’s Damien Rocky- Archinaah Rajan.

Alvin Teng- As l ina Chua advanced to the semi-fi nals after beating Md Asyraff Mohd SafianAzno­r Qistina Mastura Azri of Federal Territory 6- 4, 7- 5.

They will next play Selangor’s Sri Aakash Reddiyar- Suhana Sofi a after the latter beat Adeeb Zahar- Adeebah Zahar from Terengganu 6-2,6- 3.
